Remote greenfield exploration for an IOCG-style deposit over two Winter drilling seasons above the Arctic Circle. Avannaa Exploration Services were responsible for the logging of drill core and supervision of drilling operations when required.
Collecting and interpreting geologic data in real-time as the drilling progressed allowed us to provide the necessary information to Mineral Prospektering i Sverige AB (MPS) in order for them to tightly manage the program and keep costs reduced by rapidly stopping holes when they had passed target depth and by forecasting areas of poor rock quality and limiting triple tubing to only these zones.
Through the rapid and constant delivery of drill core data and interpretations, quick strategic decisions could be made by MPS staff to optimise and alter their drilling campaign. Follow-up drilling in the second season returned 120.95m @ 0.61% Cu, 0.11g/t Au, 180ppm Co, and 75ppm Mo, including 20.40m @ 2.20% Cu, 0.46g/t Au, 558ppm Co, 108ppm Mo in one drillhole, which is estimated to be 60-70% of True Width. Avannaa’s constant data delivery made it possible for MPS to alter their drill plan and effectively target this mineralisation.
