Company background
Since 2018, Avannaa has grown from a single consulting geologist to a team of 36 people, including geologists, geotechnical engineers and field technicians. We are involved in mining and exploration projects from the iron-ore mining province around Kiruna in the north, to the Skellefte Goldfields further south. Our headquarters are in the mining hub of Kiruna.
Our Team
Ivar van der Stijl
Ivar has been actively working in mining and mineral exploration since 2005. He has worked as a geologist on a range of base metal and ferric exploration projects in Greenland, Sweden, and Norway at all stages of the exploration process, from early-stage greenfields to advanced drilling in brownfield regions. Most recently Ivar has consulted for exploration projects and carried out technical training within Sweden.
Lewis Wild
Lewis has 16 years of experience working as a professional in mining operations and mineral exploration. For 6 years Lewis worked as an exploration and project geologist on multiple exploration projects and mining operations in a range of commodities in both Sweden and Australia, both for mining companies and as a consultant. This was followed by 5 years as a resource geologist, mainly focused on IOA and IOCG deposits. In the years before joining Avannaa, Lewis held management positions within mineral resource estimation and mining technical services.
